The MLB season is the longest of any major sport with a regular season of 162 games.
With this many games played, many players go through hot and cold streaks throughout the season.
Every week, the MLB highlights 1 player from both the American League and National League as player of the week.
According to MLB on ‘X,’ Keider Montero of the Detroit Tigers and Michael Busch of the Chicago Cubs are the AL and NL players of the week.

Montero posted a 2-0 record with 0 runs allowed and 6 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched.
The Tigers are 2.5 games out of a wild-card spot behind the Minnesota Twins in the American League and are trying to make the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
Every game is a big game at this time of the year for a team in playoff contention, and Montero did his part this week to help his team get 2 important wins.
Busch posted a .478 batting average with 4 home runs, 11 runs batted in, and a 1.567 on-base plus slugging percentage.
The Cubs are also in playoff contention as they sit 5 games back of the Atlanta Braves for the last wild-card spot in the National League.
They are looking to make their first postseason since 2020, and Busch did all that he could to help his team this week.
Both of these players are well deserving of the player of the week awards, and they will look to continue their hot streaks as their teams make one last push to sneak into the 2024 playoffs.
