The final series of the 2024 Major League Baseball regular season begins on Friday.
Most of the playoff teams have been decided, but the American League and National League wild-card races are not over yet.
With 3 wild card spots available in each league, the races could come down to the final game of the regular season.
According to MLB on ‘X,’ the postseason picture continues to take shape.

The American League wild-card race could be decided on Friday as 3 American League Central teams battle for the final 2 spots.
Both the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers can clinch postseason spots with either a victory or a loss by the Minnesota Twins.
The Royals and Tigers are tied for the 2nd wild-card spot and lead the Twins by 3 games with only 3 games remaining.
While the American League could be decided on Friday, the National League is a different story.
Along with the American League, the National League also includes 3 teams battling for 2 spots.
The New York Mets and the Arizona Diamondbacks are tied for 2nd while the Atlanta Braves trail both teams by 1 game.
Inclement weather has caused a doubleheader to be scheduled for Monday between the Braves and Mets, which could very well decide a postseason berth.
The drama at the end of the regular season could not be drawn up any better and there should be intensity right down to the finish.
The doubleheader on Monday will likely be played with a playoff game atmosphere, which appears to have been the MLB’s plan with the wild-card format.
