After finishing the 2024 season with a record of 83 wins and 79 losses, the St. Louis Cardinals are making some moves within the organization.
2024 marked the second straight season that the Cardinals will miss the postseason, and their focus appears to be shifting this offseason towards their minor league system.
With recent rumors of the moves coming to the Cardinals front office, Monday confirmed these rumors after a press conference was held.
According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale on ‘X,’ Cardinals owner Bill DeWitt announced that Chaim Bloom will replace John Mozeliak as President of Baseball Operations after the 2025 season.

The move will take place after next season, which will leave Mozeliak making day-to-day decisions, but the long-term decisions will involve Bloom.
Bloom will take over as President of Baseball Operations for the 5 years following the 2025 season.
The focus of the organization appears to be switching from putting money into their Major League roster to putting money into their Minor League organization and player development.
With this shift in focus, the Cardinals are expected to offload some big-name players and be forced into a rebuilding year in 2025.
A rebuilding year might not sit well with Cardinals fans as they are used to their team being competitive and winning games.
The Cardinals have had a winning record for 16 of the last 17 seasons, with the lone losing season coming last year in 2023 when they had a record of 71 wins and 91 losses.
Fans will be watching closely this offseason to see if their favorite players end up being let go by the organization.
